The Women of the Church of God (WCG) meet regularly on the first Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the Church Fellowship Hall. They conduct many projects around the church and in support of national and world missions.  Take a look at this link to their webpage for further information.

Men’s Group – “Ambassadors for Christ”

Our Men formed a group in August 2006 called “Ambassadors for Christ”, and meetings are held as announced.  All men are invited as we worship and fellowship together.  Take a look at this link to their webpage for further information.

Youth

The Youth take outings on occasion, attend the state youth convention held annually, take an annual camping trip, and perform various services in support of the Church.  The Children are dismissed for Children’s Church during a portion of the Sunday morning worship service, and services are also provided for children and youth on Wednesday evenings.

Missions

This church supports several projects as follows:

Wednesday Evening Prayer Meeting

Every Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. we have an informal study of the Bible or other church growth issues. The topics vary from week to week, or we may study a particular book of the Bible. This is an informal time to meet with other Christians who have questions. This is an open question and answer session generally led by the Pastor.  Once a month we get together at 6:00 p.m. for a meal together before the service.  Also note that separate children’s classes are provided during this time for Children and Youth.

Church Library

The library, located in the Secretary's Office (on right as you enter the Church Sanctuary) is organized according to topic and includes many valuable helps as well as videos and audios. Anyone will be able to use the library simply by checking out materials after services. These items provide excellent teaching resources.  Please see the Church Librarian or the Pastor if you have specific needs or items you wish to donate to the Church Library.

Disabled Access

The Church facilities are accessible by those who require wheelchair access. There is a ramp providing access to the front of the Church and also a ramp from the Sanctuary to the Fellowship Hall.  Restroom facilities in the Fellowship Hall are disabled accessible.  If you have a special need please feel free to contact the Pastor, or others who attend Church and let us know your needs and we will try to accommodate them to the extent we can.

Powell County Food Bank

The Church provides a location for the Powell County Food Bank in the white vinyl sided building located on the west side of the Church.  The Food Bank provides services to those in need who qualify.  The Food Bank is open each Wednesday (except closed on the 5th Wednesday of any month having 5 Wednesdays) between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 a.m.  Food is available for qualified recipients once each 30 day period (or more), for a maximum of 6 times each calendar year.  First time sign up and qualification is required for the initial allocation.

Nursing Home

Stanton Nursing Home is located about 0.25 miles from our Church facility.  While this facility is not associated with the Church, we do provide various means of assistance to residents during the year including visitation and the donation of food and treat items.

Radio Ministry

The Church has a radio program on Stanton Christian Radio Station WBFC - 1470 (AM) each Sunday morning from 9:00 - 9:30 a.m.  This radio ministry generally features excerpts recorded in the previous Sunday morning service held at the Church.  This ministry is directed to those who are traveling, shut-in, or otherwise unable to attend services so that the word of God may go forth to accomplish His purpose - that all may have the opportunity to experience God's word of love, joy, peace, compassion and have the opportunity to obtain the gift of salvation which Jesus purchased for us by his death on the cross.  You are invited to listen in each Sunday to our Church program, and to the general programming throughout the week provided by this Christian Radio Station which we actively support.

Van Ministry

If you or anyone you know needs a ride to attend service at the Stanton First Church of God, please let us know your need.  The Church van (holds up to 15 passengers) runs as needed to pick up those who need a ride to attend services.
