Fan or Follower - The Specifics of Following - Part 2

1.) Read Luke 18:9-14 several times this week. Each time you read this passage ask God to reveal to you which man you are in the parable. Are you the self-righteous Pharisee or the relationship seeking tax collector. (Publican)

2.) Matt. 7:21-23 informs us that not everyone that says “Lord, Lord” will enter into Heaven. In your own words state why those public professors will not be able to enter Heaven?

3.) Take some time this week and look back on your Christian experience and begin to do a spiritual life review of the things that have shaped your Christian life. As you recount these things place them in one of two categories, either Commandments of man or Biblical truth.

Remember that Biblical Truth has to have clear teaching in God’s word to back up your claim, teachings of man may be traditions or things obtained by watching or following others.

4.) Towards the end of the message this week I made the statement “Being a follower is all about following Jesus where he leads. It is not about following rules. It is all about a relationship. Now this doesn’t mean that I can just say I believe in and follow Jesus, so I can do whatever I want.”

As you think about that statement write out your own definition of being a follower of Christ.

5.) Think of some of the things that Christ has changed in your life and jot them down. Then take the list and ask yourself if they are things that you do for your salvation or because of your salvation.
