Notes From Pastor Anthony’s Desk; November 12, 2006

Here is a little poem that I found that I thought would be nice to share with you today.

IT IS THE VETERAN

It is the VETERAN, not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN, not the politician,
who has given us the right to vote.

It is the VETERAN, who salutes the Flag,
Who serves under the Flag.

I have the honor to have a Father and a Father –in-Law that served their country very proudly. They put their own lives on the line that my children may have the freedoms that they have today, and for this I say thanks. But they were a few of the blessed ones to come home; they were able to live to tell their tale, to share their experiences. But we never want to forget the ones that never made it home.

Today we want to honor all our armed service veterans. To you, veterans, we owe a debt of gratitude because you were willing to go, to serve and to give on behalf of the United States of America! God bless you!

In my prayers - Pastor Anthony
