Notes From Pastor Anthony’s Desk; |

History tells us that in 1776 the
“Liberty Bell” rang to get the peoples attention and to gather a crowd to hear
the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence. Even though
the bell is now cracked and unable to sound its magnificent ring any longer, it
is still symbolic of our great Nations freedom. Our forefathers being as well
acquainted with God’s word the way they were, it is no wonder that they
associated freedom and bells. In the book of Exodus we read about
how on the Day of Atonement the High Priest went alone into the Holy of Holies
to sprinkle the blood before God for the sins of the people. As he entered the Tabernacle he was wearing a
beautiful robe that had attached to the bottom of it pomegranates of blue,
purple and scarlet. But in between these
pomegranates were a series of tiny bells. As the priest walked into the
Tabernacle the people gathered outside could hear the jingling of the bells as
he moved about. But just before the
priest was to apply the blood he was instructed to remove the robe and keep it
off until he had completed the sacrifice. It sent waves of praise and shouts of joy
through the camp when the Children of Israel could hear the bells ring again
for it meant that their sins had been forgiven and they were spiritually free. It is time again that we, God’s
Church, begin to ring the bells of truth. We need to proclaim the truth that
there is freedom in a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. When our forefathers had something important
to proclaim they would pull out all the stops and so should we. Are you saved, proclaim every
chance you get. Can you show others the way to the cross; get busy leading for
many have lost their way. In my prayers - Pastor Anthony
