Notes From Pastor Anthony’s Desk; June 25, 2006

The last Sunday in June, hard to believe isn’t it? The 4th of July is just days away, Vacation Bible School is just around the corner, school will be back in session before you know it, time is sure flying by.

As I sit here and reflect on my summer so far I realize that I have not gotten accomplished a lot of what I had set out to do. And I have to admit that it gets a little depressing at times. If I am not careful I can allow what I have not done yesterday keep me from doing what I need to do tomorrow. It is very important that I keep my eyes focused on the present and future and not get caught dwelling in the past.

Hebrew 12:1-2 says, Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

The writer of Hebrews wanted to get the readers to see the importance of not allowing our past to dictate our futures with God. Things might not have worked out the way you would have like them to in the last little bit, it may seem like that every move you make is a wrong one, it might feel like the deck is stacked against you, but don’t give up. It is time that you set aside the things that are holding you back, stop dwelling on the past and start rejoicing in our future with Christ Jesus.

We all have a purpose, we all have things that we need to accomplish for God’s church. So let us get our eyes on Jesus and keep pressing on.

In my prayers - Pastor Anthony
