Notes From Pastor Anthony’s Desk; April 2, 2006

Long time no write, but I’m back. We have had a pretty hectic couple of weeks but prayerfully things are starting to calm a bit.

Have you noticed the signs lately? Warmer weather, school being out for a week, kids playing, yard work going on, baseball games on T.V. Yep you’re right, it is the signs of spring. Winter has started to fade and springtime has taken its rightful place even as we speak.  It has always amazed me how by just looking at the things that are going on around us we can see the beginning of the things that are yet to come, just like the seasons.

But the seasons are not the only thing that we need to be watchful for. If we as Christians would really keep our eyes open we could see the signs of apathy or the lack of concern in our personal walk with God. I have to admit I have noticed a falling off as of late. I don’t say that to be critical, but to hopefully open our eyes to what the devil is hoping we never see. What are some of the signs of Christian apathy? There are many but I will just name a few.  (1) Lack of attendance to evening and mid-week services.

It is easy to get out of the custom of solid church attendance if we are not careful and we need to do our best to set aside that time for the Lord so that we can get recharged for the week that lies ahead. (2) Lack of prayer life. Are you praying as much as we use to?  Do you pray for your church and your spiritual leaders as much as you did a few months ago or even a few years ago? Why not?  (3) Lack of involvement in worship.  If we are not careful we will find ourselves just going through the motions of worship, even your Pastor has to guard against that.  Not paying attention, not focusing on the songs or the message, just sort of being a number.  I have been in that shape myself and that is not a good condition to be.

Again I am not trying to be critical, I just want to keep us from slipping in our spiritual walk with God and encourage each of us to keep on keeping on for our Father in heaven.

In my prayers,

Pastor Anthony
