Notes From Pastor Anthony’s Desk; December 11, 2005

“Christ has nobody now on earth but you; no hands but yours, no feet but yours, yours are the eyes through which is to look out Christ’s compassion to the world, yours are the feet with which he is to go about doing good, your hands are the hands with which he is to bless now”.Saint Teresa of Avila

This was a poem that I read this week during my personal devotion. As I read this poem it suddenly became clear to me again how important that it is for me to be obedient to the calling of God in my life. If Saint Teresa was correct in her evaluation of our importance to Gods plan and Gods ability to reach the world with His mercy and love, it would behoove us to make sure that we are taking God wherever He needs to go.

If we are not careful we can get the attitude that we are insignificant in the plan of God. If enough of us begin to believe that, then who will do the work that needs to be done?

We must never forget that we all have a part to play in the Kingdom. We are all important. As with any team it is vitally important that everyone does their part to the best of their ability. I remember several years ago there was a point guard for the California Golden Bears basketball team by the name of Jason Kidd. As I was watching him play one day the announcers made a statement that some of Kidd’s passes were too good for the rest of the team to catch. Even though they had a very strong part of a team, California never accomplished much because the rest of the team couldn’t keep their end of the work. So it goes often in the Church. We must make sure that we all do what we can and that God is taken to the places that He wants and needs to go.
