Notes From Pastor Anthony’s Desk; November 13, 2005

This past week I have been very busy and involved in helping the Ministerial Association map out our plan in attacking our drug problem in Powell County. I am very excited about what is on the horizon for our county; I really believe that God is getting ready to do a tremendous thing among His people.

I have been questioned lately about why I do all that I do. Why am I so involved in what seems to be a losing battle on drug and alcohol addiction in our community. My answer is simple; I am going about my Father’s business. Just as Christ was at the age of 12 years old when He was preaching in the temple, I am just doing what I believe is the heart of my God. There is no way I would be able to sit on the sidelines and do nothing when I have realized what is the hearts desire of my Lord and Savior. Part of being a Christian is being obedient; part of being obedient is doing what you know you should be doing. Obedience is more than not doing what is wrong, but it also means doing what is right and what is expected of us.

What is it that you do that makes you about the Father’s business? It is a great fear of mine that there will be many well meaning people standing before God at the Judgment and be found guilty of the sin of omission, or neglecting to do what you know God desires you to do.

It is hard for me to believe that there are great numbers of people that are around us everyday that are dying and going to Hell and about every pastor of the local churches have a hard time finding members in their churches that are willing to perform a simple task such as pray.

I know we all are busy, I have a very busy schedule myself, but that does not keep me from being involved. It is my desire to see each person in our church in the next year becomes a part of some ministry here at Stanton 1st Church of God. If it is just being part of a prayer team, or maybe becoming committed to C.R.O.S.S or our youth and children’s program. You might just want to be a door greeter, but whatever it is that God has in store for you make sure you do it for the glory of God and with all your heart.

      In my prayers,

      Pastor Anthony
