Notes From Pastor Anthony’s Desk; August 14, 2005

Most of you know that this summer I have taken up the sport of Golf. Yes, your one-armed Pastor has been hitting the proverbial links and it has turned a few heads. For years I have watched all my friends and the majority of my colleagues enjoy this game, and I just sat on the sidelines saying that I could never play with my disability. When I decided to throw my hat in the ring, I was told that if I could ever get to the point to where I could shoot a 100 I would be doing pretty good. This past Friday I went to the Golf Course and played 18 holes.  After my 18 holes I began to add up my score and realized that in only my 5th time on a golf course I shot a 106. Now that is not good but it’s not bad either for a new kid at the game.

I said all that to say this, I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me. All I have to do is put my mind to it. The way that I relate this to ministry is that there are many people that have been satisfied with just sitting on the sidelines allowing everyone else gobble up all of God’s blessings that are offered through ministry all because they think they can’t do what everybody else is doing. My friend you are short changing yourself.  With the help and the grace of God you can do what God has called you to do and what you set your mind to.

I pray that you don’t make the same mistake I have made for years and sit back and watch everyone else have fun and get involved in the action. There is a place for you in ministry here at Stanton First Church of God and we have a great deal of people sitting on the sidelines. Come join the fun and grab some clubs and get into the action.

In my prayers,

Pastor Anthony
