Notes From Pastor Anthony’s Desk; August 7, 2005

This past Friday in our Pastor Study on being a minister for God,  we came across a very interesting quote by Norman Harper from his book, Making Disciples, that I want to share with you all this week. He said, “The scriptures declares, According as each hath received a gift, minister it among yourselves as good stewards of the manifold Grace of God… 1 Peter 4:10. From this passage it can be seen that every Christian has a ministry for which he or she is accountable to God. On this point there is no difference between clergy and laity. Thus when a layman is confronted with the opportunity to serve in the church, the question for him or her is not whether he has a ministry, but whether this particular ministry is the one to which God is calling him and for which He will hold him accountable.

If we are not careful we can get into the frame of thinking that being involved with ministry or being a minister in the church is optional for true believers. But the fact is that every true born again child of God has been supplied with something that they can offer to other around them to enable them to have a better and a more profitable walk with God. It is dangerous for the church to have people that are willing to set on the sidelines and watch others play all the downs so to speak. We all  need to be involved in order to make things operate the way that God has planned them. It is easy to sit back and allow others do everything and say that there is no place for us to serve. But I would hate to be judged by God for saying that there was no room for me in His Church. None of you are here just to be here, we all have jobs to do. You, me, all of us have special gifts of God that need to be shared. The hard part some times is finding our special gifts and utilizing them in Gods kingdom.

It is my sincere hope that you all begin to search your lives to find that special something that God has given you for the purpose of edifying His Church and set your hearts on sharing it no matter the cost.

In my prayers,

Pastor Anthony
