Notes From Pastor Anthony’s Desk; June 5, 2005

I would like to take this time to say “Congratulations” to all of our young people that are advancing in the world of education or in other words, they are graduating from their respective grades. But most of all I want to take my hat off to Walter Whisman, Natasha Rogers and most of all our little faithful Nancy Mullins. I am tremendously proud of all our graduates no matter which grade they are advancing into next year and I pray that God will richly bless you no matter what your future holds.

As we think about advancing in life, my mind is turned to the need for all of us to advance in our spiritual life as well. Peter tells us in 2 Peter 3 that while we are waiting on the promise of Jesus Christ 2nd Coming that we are not to just lay around and do nothing but that we are to be growing in grace and knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In other words he says that we should not be satisfied with just a ho-hum experience with God but we need to be ever learning as much about God as we can until He comes back to get His bride.

Just as our graduates, no matter what level they finished, they had to meet certain curriculum requirements in order to advance. They were tested on the material that they had the opportunity to learn if they learned it or not. We in the service of God are going to be judged by not only what we have learned of God, but also by the opportunities that we had to learn but refused to.

If your soul was required of you today, would you be able to graduate from this earthly body into one that is glorified and eternal? Or would you have missed the mark that was set before you and fail to make Heaven your home? It makes you think, doesn’t it?

In my prayers,

Pastor Anthony
