Notes From Pastor Anthony’s Desk; May 8, 2005

For the past few weeks our family has done a great deal of celebrating. We have passed a great milestone in our lives as a young family of 4. The smallest of the Molihan clan has been potty trained. That might not seem like much to you but it would mean that much more if you were the ones buying the diapers. But to be honest with you, there was very little training involved. Caddie decided that he wanted to go to the potty like Colin did and he has been going ever since. I guess you may be wondering where this is going, well here we go.

Every time that Caeden went to the bathroom we would all celebrate. We would holler, yell, and jump up and down, scream with delight and of course give him some spare change for his accomplishment. The going to the potty was not a big deal to Caeden but the celebrating sure was and that meant the world to him.

I believe that we in the church should do more celebrating. We should get enthused about the accomplishment of our young converts even though they may seem small to us, we need to remember that they are big steps for them. If we had not celebrated with Caddie it may have discouraged him and he would have back slid to diapers. Likewise with our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. We need to rejoice and be glad with one another and celebrate the victories that we have in the Lord. If we don’t give our fellow Saints the needed encouragement, they may lose sight of the Lord and fall back into sin.

So let us to remember that it is something to celebrate when a young child goes to the potty and a young Christian takes their next step with the Lord.

In my prayers,

Pastor Anthony
