Notes From Pastor Anthony’s Desk; April 10, 2005

This past week Evan passed a very important hurdle in the life of a young child, He learned how to ride his bicycle minus the training wheels. You should have seen the face of that 6 year old as he for the 1st time began a journey all by himself on the navy blue Schwinn, you would have thought he had conquered the world. All he could say was, “Did you see me Daddy, Did you see me?”

Evan wasn’t the only one that was proud and totally elated, but his Daddy was too. I guess I was the proudest Dad in Stanton this past Monday. Not because Evan was riding his bike, but because he had fell so many times before and he never gave up. He would keep on climbing back on that 24 inch monster and try it again and again and again. Don’t get me wrong, I realized how great of a accomplishment it was for my 6 year old to learn to ride his new bike but he was taught more by falling off and getting back on his bike than he learned by actually riding the bike itself. He was taught to stand fast, be patient, work hard and good things will come to those who work hard. If Evan had gotten discouraged and quit trying to learn to ride think of the great fun he would have missed out on.

WE as Christians can learn a great deal by falling off a bike every now and then. We need to remember to stand fast, to be patient and do the very best for God that we can. Some of us give up on God too quick or think that God has given up on us. WE begin to feel useless and unappreciated. But we need to remember that God has a use for us all, all we have to do is fully submit to Gods will and wait upon his direction. If you give up to soon, think of the blessing you will miss.

The devil is always telling you that the grass is greener on the other side or at another church or in another place. But he fails to tell you that they are all built upon a septic tank. Get to where God wants you to be, give God all that you have to offer and wait upon the blessings.

In my prayers,

Bro. Anthony
