Notes From Pastor Anthony’s Desk; March 20, 2005

Greetings in the name of Christ Jesus,

This upcoming week is one of my most favorite weeks all year long. It is the week that we begin to celebrate one of the greatest events in not only religious history but world history, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is a time that we most of all try to picture in our minds what all He had to go through in order for us to have redemption. We also try to imagine where we would be if He hadn’t suffered as He did. This time of reflection more often than not causes me to experience massive tear shedding and a great feeling of unworthiness. But then I realize that if I had been worthy Christ would not had to die. But the very reason of His death was because I was unable to gain redemption on my own. That makes me want to sing to the very top of my lungs, “What a mighty God we serve, what a mighty God we serve.”

It is usually around Christmas that we traditionally make our resolutions or come up with ideas of things in our lives that we would like to change. But I think that as we reflect upon this great event that we are preparing to celebrate this upcoming week it would be a great time to make our resolutions. Why? Because this is the time that the ultimate sacrifice that was made on our behalf is freshest in our minds. Every time we act in a way that would not be of God we can remember His suffering because of our sins. Now that is a powerful life-changing agent.

I hope you all have a great week and I trust that I will see you at Communion and Foot Washing Thursday night!!!

In my prayers,

Pastor Anthony
