Notes From Pastor Anthony’s Desk; March 13, 2005

Greetings to you all in the name of Jesus Christ,

I hope and pray that each of you have had a blessed and productive week. I know I have been super busy this week but God has really been good to me through it all.

This past week the scripture Psalms 133:1 has really made a big impression in my walk with God. It say; “Behold, how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in Unity.” Many of you may know that this week was when The Ministerial Association and a couple of members of our church family here @ Stanton met with the Powell County Little League and discussed our concerns about Sunday afternoon baseball. Well, I am glad to say that God came through and there will be no Sunday baseball in Powell County. But God was able to use some men in our community because we were willing to stick together on a common cause. We were unified. At the meeting there were about 20 of the Little League council present and only two pastors, one youth minister and two concerned parents but our united stance and the signatures of about 15 other pastors made them decide to change their minds. One of the council members even stated that “We better not get the churches against us.” I was trying to think the other day when was the last time that anyone feared the power of the church. It has been a while because we have not been united.

Even in our local congregations we are in need of unity and fellowship in order to become a powerful force in this world that we live in. The church does not need any mavericks. Even The Lone Ranger had Tonto to ride with. God has placed each of us in the body of Christ for a particular reason, we all have a purpose. The challenge is finding that purpose and carrying it out. I guess what I am wanting to say is that we can do much more if we will work together as a unit than we could as individuals. So find your place here at Stanton First Church of God and get to work and let us see what God can do with us working together.
