Notes From Pastor Anthony’s Desk; February 13, 2005

Greetings in the name above all names, Christ Jesus. I would like to say how glad I am to have all of you come out this morning and join us for Sunday worship. I pray that each of us will give God all that we have this morning and that God will give each of us what we need.

I have been over whelmed the past three weeks with the work and effort that has been going on at Stanton First Church of God. The great show of interest and support that many of you have shown has truly taught me exactly how much each of you love this Church. But as I thought about all the ones, (to many to name) that have come out to either work on the Church or the parsonage and how that was a great showing of love and dedication, I was also reminded of the ones of you that may not be able to show your love and support in this way. This does not mean that your love or support is any less; it just means that maybe you are unable to do such things because of your health or work schedules. But does this leave you out of options of ways to show your love and support, No, No, No and a thousand times No. As a matter of fact there is a great work that we all can partake in and never have to lift a hammer or a dreaded paint brush. That great work is prayer.

In Eph. 6 Paul is telling the Church at Ephesus to put on the whole armor of God because the battle that they were facing was going to be a all out war. But he also realized that we all can’t be on the frontlines so to speak so he goes on and say in verses 18-19 that we need to; Pray all the time. Ask God for anything in line with the Holy Spirit's wishes. Plead with him, reminding him of your needs, and keep praying earnestly for all Christians everywhere. 19 Pray for me, too, and ask God to give me the right words as I boldly tell others about the Lord and as I explain to them that his salvation is for the Gentiles too. You may feel as if there is nothing that you can do, you may feel as if your age has left you unneeded by the Church, you may think because of your schedule that you can’t give quality time to this congregation. But I declare to you today that you are needed in the work of prayer. I you can do no more, you can pray. Pray that those that are laboring will have great success, pray that I will be the man of God I need to be, pray that I will have the words to tell the lost I make contact with each week about Jesus. But no matter what you can or can not do, Remember to Pray without Ceasing for it is the lifeline of our Church.

In my prayers,

Pastor Anthony
