Notes From Pastor Anthony’s Desk; February 6, 2005

Hello, I hope that this writing finds all of you doing well and living as close to God as you know how. It seems as if everything has hit our Church at once. We hardly get over the shock of one report and wham; there is another one to impact our lives. But I have always found God to be true to His word and always be exactly what we need, right when we need it the most. But there is a phrase in Galatians 1:15 that we all need to remember. It says, “But when it pleased God”. Sometimes that is hard for me to grasp, but the fact remains that God does things in His divine time not mine. We can calculate, estimate and try to figure out when and how things are going to happen and if we are not careful we leave no room for God to move. Not only does God do things in His own time, but also in His own way. How many of us would be surprised if God came on the scene in a way that we didn’t look for Him to come? I am afraid to many of us. We are often found guilty of only expecting God to make Him self known to us in a certain way and that hinders God at times from doing as He wishes to. It is true that we need to expect God to come to our rescue, but not to only expect Him in a certain way. We have to be ready to receive Him the way that God is, not the way we desire Him to be.

The only way that we can make sure that God has the room and the freedom to come on the scene of our lives the way He pleases is to keep in constant contact with The Holy Spirit and live contently in the land of expectancy. And always remember that God only acts when, “It pleases Him”.

In my prayers,

Pastor Anthony
